“I have a style/color I want to get but don’t know which color options to choose”“I would like to know the approximate cost to do my color before booking”
We have been receiving inquiries like the above a lot recently.
The color procedures and their price would change depending on the current hair color level, color/perm history, and the color/styles to achieve, so the best way to find out these answers would be to take a consultation. (And we offer complimentary online consultation before booking!)
But here, we would like to share some of the basic color knowledge and explain each color menu we are offering – please read this if you consider getting a hair color before booking. We secure a certain amount of time that would be needed for each coloring menu, so changing the color menu on the day of the appointment may result in the incompleteness of the color session you wish for or rescheduling your appointment. The understanding of each menu would avoid selecting the wrong color menu. We also recommend reading this article if you want to get an online consultation, to have a mutual understanding of what we discuss!

1: Hair Coloring 101 - Color vs Bleach
Frankly, there are two hair coloring procedures when dying hair – Coloring and Bleaching.Coloring is to dye your hair by adding colors to the current hair pigment. On the other hand, bleaching is to strip the pigment from your hair shaft. This lightens your hair color level and eases dying to lighter tones.
Imagine the hair as a piece of paper – if the color of the paper is black, no matter what colors of crayons you paint it over, the pigments of crayon will come out on the paper at a very minimum. But if it’s white or light-colored paper, the crayon colors can appear more clearly. This is the logic of the bleaching process. By bleaching out the pigment of the hair at first, the new color pigment that is applied after will come out beautifully.

2: Color Process
*This explanation is for the following color menus at Three Degrees Salon:
Single Color Process
Double Color Process
Single Color Process w/Haircut
This is the Color Process without Bleaching. Depending on what the current hair color level is, the exact process would change, but we choose the right coloring products and methods to reach what you desire. In general, we can lighten up to level 13 from the below color level scale chart by doing the color processes only. You may need Double Color Process to achieve level 13 depending on your hair type and current color. If you want brighter than level 13, we suggest you consider the Bleaching Process.
*** This color chart is to scale the level of lightness, but not to show the type of color. We offer various color ranges such as red, brown, orange, copper, gold, beige, olive, ash, blue, purple, pink, etc.
At the consultation before starting the process, we find your current hair level first, then we pick your desired brightness level, and lastly, we choose the color to dye.
We recommend choosing Color Process especially if you are one of the followings :
-Want to get a hair color without bleaching (concerning a potential hair damage/color fading)
-Want to dye my permed hair
-The bleaching process was not recommended by a stylist due to the hair damage
-Want to dye my bleached hair to a different color tone
-Want to lighten up/darken my hair slightly from the current hair color
-Want to cover my grey hair
The difference between Single Color Process and Double Color Process is the number of coloring processes. If your current hair color is already lighter enough because of your previous coloring/bleaching process, or you only want a slight tone up/down, Single Color Process is the right menu to go with. If your current hair color is a darker tone (Or if you color your hair for the first time) but you want to lighten your hair as bright as possible (especially level 11–13 from the above color chart), please pick Double Color Process.
Also, if you had bleached your hair previously and want to darken your hair to below level 7, please pick Double Color Process.
Again, whether you need one or two color processes is determined by the current hair color and what you desire. If you are unsure which menu to choose, please feel free to contact us for online consultation.
3: Bleach Process
*This explanation is for the following color menus at Three Degrees Salon:
Bleach Single Process(1Bleach+Color)
Bleach Double Process(2Bleach+Color)
Bleach Triple Process (3Bleach+Color)
As explained in the first paragraph, bleaching is to strip the pigment from your hair shaft to lighten up your original hair color level. By doing this before the coloring, the new color pigment that is added after will come out beautifully.
Bleaching takes more damage, cost, and time for the procedure, but it gives more options for colors and brightness. For example, neon colors, pastel colors, and blondes in various shades cannot be achieved without bleaching, unless your hair is naturally bright enough. To minimize the damage during the bleaching process, we offer Olaplex treatment service.
For this procedure, we bleach your hair 1 – 3 times before adding your desired hair color at last. The key part of this process is bleaching – it is very important to strip the pigment perfectly and evenly, as this will determine the finished look. The numbers of bleaching process are determined depending on the current hair color tone and the brightness of color you want to achieve. Please contact us in advance if you have a desired color and are not sure which bleaching menu to choose.
We want to emphasize the importance of online consultation for the bleaching process especially – we secure a certain amount of time that would need for each coloring menu, so if more bleaching process is required to achieve the desired color than what you booked, we will run out of time. Unfortunately, this may result in splitting the session into two days or rescheduling your appointment.

4: Highlights/Balayage
*This explanation is for the following color menus at Three Degrees Salon:
Highlights/Balayage Touch-Up (Within 3 months)
Full Highlights/Balayage
For the Highlights/Balayage process, we hand-paint (bleach + color) strings of hair around certain areas to create a dimensional but natural look. It creates volume in the hair, and you can enjoy the style even when hair roots grow. This is one of the most popular coloring menus at Three Degrees Salon!
If you have done Highlights/Balayage within 3 months by us and want to do a touch-up for the roots, you can book Highlights/Balayage Touch Up (Within 3 months). If it has taken longer than 3 months since the last time you did Highlights/Balayage, or you want to try this process for the first time, please select Full Highlights/Balayage.

5: Peekaboo/Point Color
*This explanation is for the following color menu at Three Degrees Salon:
Peekaboo / Point / Frame Color (2 Bleach + Color)
Peekaboo/Point Color is a highlighting technique that adds another color under the top layer of hair as a “hidden hair”. It is a good way to try vivid/fantasy colors while being not too obvious. You can enjoy multiple looks depending on how you style, such as tying up, half-up half-down, tucking behind your ear, changing your hair part, and so on. It is also easy to cover the hair root's growth, so a touch-up is rarely necessary (unless you want to!).
Normally, this “hidden” color will be a brighter tone than the rest of your hair, so we are securing enough time to do 2 Bleach + Color for the booking of this menu. But the price varies depending on the actual procedures. (how many bleaching processes are proceeded, and how much portions of your hair are colored)

Color Corrections
Color-Corrections is to correct a previously colored hair that has the complexity of the situation, by using any or all hair coloring services.
