KEI HIRATA

Kei Hirata began cutting hair at the age of 13, and this early experience inspired him to explore the world of beauty and hairstyling. After graduating from the Nihon Beauty Academy, he began his professional career working at HEAVENS in Harajuku, Tokyo, where he mastered his haircutting and hair-styling skills.  In 2008, Kei moved to Vancouver, Canada to expand his career outside of Japan and experience cultural diversity. He lived there for several years, working with a wide variety of clients and colleagues through his job at a hair salon while also taking on new challenges such as styling for fashion shoots, advertisements, and TV shows.  Since 2011, Kei has been based in New York City, and he currently works at a hair salon in the East Village while moonlighting as a freelance hair-styling consultant for celebrity hair and magazine shoots. The depth and breadth of his experiences are echoed in Kei’s unique hair designs and are integral to his creations.

RITSUKO HOTAKA

Ritsuko has had a flourishing career as one of Tokyo’s leading hair stylists. Before arriving in New York City in 2017, she had twelve years of experience as the manager of one of the top hair salons in Tokyo. Her cutting skills as well as her prowess in the coloring techniques of ombre, balayage, and highlighting made her well-known and earned her the trust of her clients.  Outside of Ritsuko's commitments at the salon, she is often commissioned to do hair and make-up for fashion magazines, hair catalogs, and lookbook shoots where she works with celebrity clientele. She also writes columns for Japanese magazines and has been frequently invited to give lectures at hair-coloring seminars in Japan.

MEGUMU MUROTA

In Tokyo, Japan, Meg was a musician and worked in the fashion industry, but moved to New York City to begin a new career. She started by working as a hair-stylist assistant in the East Village, and after years of training, she became a full-fledged hair stylist.  Much of her inspiration comes from the fashion, music, and art that she encountered in her former career creating hair designs. Her looks that include a mixture of Tokyo x NY street-style, grunge, and balayage are loved by many of her clients.
