Kei Hirata began cutting hair at the age of 13, and this early experience inspired him to explore the world of beauty and hairstyling. After graduating from the Nihon Beauty Academy, he began his professional carrier working at HEAVENS in Harajuku, Tokyo, where he mastered his haircutting and hair-styling skills.
In 2008, Kei moved to Vancouver, Canada to expand his carrier outside of Japan and experience cultural diversity. He lived there for several years, working with a wide variety of clients through his job at a hair salon while also taking on new challenges such as styling for fashion shoots, advertisements, and TV shows.
Since 2011, Kei has been based in New York City and has worked for several hair salons, while moonlighting as a freelance hair-styling consultant for celebrity hair and magazine shoots. In 2019, he opened his own concept hair studio, Three Degrees Salon, in East Village. The depth and breadth of his experiences in three countries are echoed in Kei's unique hair designs and are integral to his creations.
